West Albany, as it has been for each of its opponents this fall, was just too much.

Lebanon, or anybody else Friday night, would have been hard-pressed to stop the top-ranked Bulldogs.

Reese Miller threw three touchdown passes and ran for another, and Will Murphy and Anthony LaCoste scored two apiece as West jumped ahead 56-0 at halftime and won by the same score.

The Bulldogs improved to 8-0 overall and 5-0 in the Mid-Willamette Conference. Lebanon dropped to 1-7 and 1-4.

West scored four times in the first seven minutes of the game, including a 35-yard interception return by Drew Pigg.

A Lebanon fumble on a kickoff return set up another Bulldog score.

"All we had to do is get the front four, our defensive linemen, to take care of the offensive linemen, so the linebackers could make the plays," said West senior linebacker and receiver Scot Foss. "All the credit is on the linemen so we could make those plays."

Foss scored his first offensive touchdown as a varsity player when he caught a 17-yard pass from Miller late in the first quarter.

"That was a really fun game. We were all just feeding off each other, getting energy and making some plays," Foss said.

Lebanon coach Rob Allen said he was impressed with what the Bulldogs threw at his team.

Allen said it was a bad sign when West got off to quick start.

"They've got the greatest defense in the state. Offensively, they can execute real well," Allen said. "They've got skill people. They've got a speed level we're not used to seeing."

Allen said there were no positives for his team that came from the game.

Taylor Bitterman was the Warriors' leading rusher with 52 yards on 15 carries.

Quarterback Russell Duerr added 43 yards on 13 tries.

Duerr was 0 for 3 passing for zero yards.

Miller was 5 of 9 for 59 yards.

With West up by more than 45 points at halftime, the entire second half was played with a running clock, only stopping for timeouts and changes of possession.

"It gave our backups a chance to get some playing time, get some reps," Miller said.

"Our goal was to come out firing on full cylinders, and whatever happens from there, happens from there."

Next week, Lebanon hosts Woodburn (1-7, 0-5) and West plays at Dallas (7-1, 4-1).
