RENTON, Wash. (AP) - Nine-time Pro Bowl left tackle Walter Jones was already recovering from offseason microfracture knee surgery. Now, he's dealing with back spasms that have kept him from practicing the past two days.

Seattle Seahawks head coach Jim Mora said Jones was supposed to practice Sunday afternoon after getting Saturday off to rest. Instead, he took a wrong step and his back tightened up.

"Any time I say the word 'back,' I get a little tense, and I'm sure I made everybody nervous,'' Mora said, referring to the back injury suffered by quarterback Matt Hasselbeck that limited him to only seven games last season. "But (Jones) will be out here as quick as he can.''

Jones was taken to get an MRI, "and it was just a spasm,'' Mora said. "So he should be OK.''

HOLDING OUT: The holdout of Seahawks No. 4 overall draft pick Aaron Curry has reached its fourth day. The two sides are still trying to work out a deal, which is being complicated by the contract given to New York Jets quarterback Mark Sanchez.

"We'll discount the quarterback deals, and (Curry's agents) will say, 'Nope, there it is,''' Seahawks general manager Tim Ruskell said Thursday. "Therein lies the rub of where the deal will get done.''

Curry is expected to compete for one of the starting outside linebacker positions when he gets to camp. However, the longer the holdout continues, the more difficult it will be for Curry to win the job before the season begins.

"Every practice he misses becomes more critical because he's missing repetitions that he'll never get back,'' Mora said. "But I remain confident that something will get done soon.''

12TH MAN COMETH: Monday was the first day Seahawks training camp has been open to the public since the team left its former training camp home at Eastern Washington University in Cheney three years ago.

Approximately 1,500 fans showed up to watch the morning practice.

"It certainly spices up practice a bit to have them there, and I hope they enjoyed it,'' Mora said. "We enjoyed having them. I know the players enjoyed it.''

The past two seasons, the team trained at their former headquarters in Kirkland. The old facility was cramped and unable to accommodate fans who wanted to attend practices. After moving into their new practice facility last season, the team planned to reopen training camp to the public.

During two-minute drills toward the end of practice, defensive tackle Craig Terrill asked the crowd to get loud to try and hinder the offense.

The crowd responded, but it was of no use as the offense scored on a touchdown pass from Hasselbeck to wide receiver TJ Houshmandzadeh.

"I think that, just like on Sundays when our fans help us during the game, during training camp, they'll carry us through the dog days of camp, because those are coming,'' Mora said. "You get into that second week of camp and you've been pounding on each other, and you're tired and you're sore, are you got a group of 1,500 fans out here cheering for everything you do, that lifts you up.''

Extra Points: Also sitting out practice Monday were DT Brandon Mebane, T Ray Willis, FB Owen Schmitt and CB Marcus Trufant. … Mebane has a bruised knee but should be back to practice within the next day or two. … Willis has a sore knee that kept him out of practice in the morning, but he returned for the evening practice. He is getting periodic time off along with C Chris Spencer and Jones to limit some of the punishment training camp inflicts on offensive linemen.
